Inlay Restorations
Amalgam fillings, known as silver fillings, are a thing of the past, although many adults have one or more of these restorations in their teeth. Unfortunately, these fillings break down eventually and leak, fall out, or damage the surrounding tooth structure. When this occurs, it is unlikely that a composite filling will repair the tooth, although a dental crown would be too much coverage. Instead, a larger ceramic restoration is ideal for restoring the tooth’s structure and beauty. Inlays cover the top area or chewing surface of a damaged molar or premolar. Our CEREC technology makes fabricating an inlay quick and simple.
Onlay Restorations
For teeth with larger areas of damage that require treatment to the tooth’s chewing surface and one or more cusps, an onlay is more suitable. Onlays are more like partial crowns. Ideally, Dr. Mohler prefers to preserve as much of your natural, healthy tooth structure as possible. Therefore, an onlay may be a better option for you than a crown. CEREC technology allows Dr. Mohler to scan your tooth using ultramodern technology, and then our in-office milling unit designs and fabricates the restoration while you wait. CEREC eliminates the need for a dental lab to make your restorations.
Crowns
If your tooth has sustained extensive damage, a crown may be the best option. Crowns cover the entire exterior of a tooth and fit down to the gum line. A dental crown aims to improve the tooth’s structural integrity, aesthetics, and function and prevents the tooth from needing an extraction. Therefore, you might need a dental crown if you have an old filling that falls out, or your tooth has extensive decay or damage, with little tooth structure left above the gum line. Once in place, the crown will look and feel just like a real tooth, down to the tiny crevices on the chewing surface.
Veneers
A popular cosmetic dental choice, veneers restore stained, chipped, uneven, misshapen, or slightly crooked teeth. Made of high-quality ceramic that looks and feels just like natural tooth enamel, veneers are thin shells that cover the front surface of your tooth. Dr. Mohler uses our CEREC technology to expertly design the most beautiful veneers to bond directly to your teeth. As a result, your smile will look completely natural.
